corals & peaches .. lipglosses

when it comes down to lipstick vs. lipgloss, im more of a lipstick person . i never thought i'd be a lipstick person until my first lipstick application . then, i learned that all lipsticks arent like my mom's that i used to play with when i was a little girl with stinky lipstick scent .

although i hate wearing lipglosses during summer, i love corals & peaches .

MAC lipglass in pink lemonade: im not a big fan of mac lipglass, especially during summer cuz its so sticky . but i couldnt pass up this color . i love the color payoff and its one of my fav lipglosses . it looks amazing with tanned skin tone . however, it is really thick so i like to wear it by itself over lipbalm . i think this lasts longer than any other MAC lipglasses i own !

Tony Moly plumping lip in sparkle peach 02: tony moly is a korean brand & i picked this up while i was in korea . i love this lipgloss paired up with rimmel crush lipstick . its a bit sheer to wear by itself unless you like that look, but it has a pretty peach tint that looks perfect with crush . it tones down the orangeness of crush just the right amount . i dont think it does any plumping, but it stays on for a longgggg time ! it smells like eyeko's fat lipbalm strawberry scent but with mint !

NYX round lipgloss in apricot: i love NYX lipglsses cuz theyre not sticky and they have color payoff as good as MAC's . this is a true coral color in the tube . i wear this with a nude lipstick or etude house's lip concealer underneath since my pigmented lips make it look like i have sheer red gloss on . its a lot more sheer than it looks but it has that pretty coral tint .

Revlon's colorstay liquid lipstick in prized peach: i guess this is more of a lipstick than lipgloss but i added it to the list of lipglosses since it looks like one . i really really want to like this since it has one of the longest lasting finish . after eating, drinking, kissing, it stays put loyally . but I CANNOT STAND THE SMELL ! it kind of smells like old lipsticks from the early 90's and doesnt fade away fast enough . and the color ! it looks so pretty in the tube but when it goes on my lips, its a LOT darker than i'd like it to be . they need to make pretty, lighter colors for this line !!

corals & peaches .. lipsticks

i knew i was more of a peach girl than a pink girl the moment i put on a peach toned lipstick .

& summer means lots of peach & coral toned .. well, anything ! especially lipsticks :)

i still suck at capturing the real colors on camera, but i think im getting better ! but i thought i'd add another picture in a different lighting . the colors are a LOT more vibrant in person !

in order of my preference,

my first ever peach toned lipstick was YSL's rouge volupte #26, tender peach . this is my peach toned lipstick for ALL YEAR around . everyone knows about this lipstick & i, too, fell in love with it & it became my hg lipstick . this is actually my first & only hg product so far, i love it to pieces ! just wish it would last longer on my lips ..

my newest favorite is rimmel's lasting finish in crush, 202 . i actually had this for a while, it was patiently waiting in my lipstick drawer until i was tanned enough for this shade . its AMAZING with bronzed skin, paired up with stereo rose !!! instant beachy summer look ! first time i wore it, i kept on looking at my lips in different mirrors with different lighting cuz it amazed me how pretty this lipstick can be ! i think it just MIGHT be my summer hg lipstick . its definately been in my regular rotation for a few weeks now . oh, not to mention it lasts a long time (~4 hrs) when worn with tony moly's plumping lipgloss !

my next favorite is MAC's shygirl . its extremely similar to rimmel's crush but a bit more peach toned nude whereas crush would be more coral toned . i think its a little more easy to wear than crush . i had this for a while now too but was never in my regular rotation since all my attention were held by blankety during winter/spring . at first i kind of cringed at that little frostiness . i HATE HATE HATE frosty finish on my lips . but with darker tanned skin, it creates a perfect effortless summery look . i just hate how creamsheen lipsticks tend to tilt in the tube and nick on the side of the lipstick . bleh .

NYX's round lipstick in vitamin . this is such a vibrant coral, pink tinted color . it almost looks scary bright in the tube but when its worn, its not at all ! it does have that frosty finish i dont like but frostiness is forgiveable with tanned skin ! everyone knows NYX lippies .. well, i love them too !

cello's #14, pink tint . i dont know why this is called pink tint unless they meant coral with fuschiaish pink tint . i got this when i was in korea . its a cheap brand that i just got cuz it was cheap . it smells soooo bad !!! it smells like old school lipsticks that my mom used to wear in the 90's . i'd love to wear this since the color is so pretty & wearable, but my nose doesnt let me whenever i bring this near my lips . so .. boo .

what made me happy this weekend

( this blush is a LOT redder in person than in my pictures . )
i just couldnt get the right lighting for the life of me :(

so ive been lusting over stereo rose, swatches after swatches . i couldnt get enough even if it was just through my laptop monitor . i loveeee peach, coral toned blushes .

i actually remembered about preordering last thursday so i called the eaton centre location and they tell me they're not doing preorders BUT the pro store on queen st got them already . WHAT ! :) so i call them right away to find out they got them in that day and have about 5 left . i put 2 on hold to pick them up the next day . when i go pick it up the next day, theyre all sold out . made me extra happy !

msf in light flush is my most favorite everyday blush during my pale winter months . its the perfect blush for someone who wants a peachy blush that can be suitable during the colder months that doesnt look too summery AND for someone who's just starting out with a blush . you just CANNOT overdo this blush ! but as i get more tanned throughout the summer, less and less it shows on my face . :( since its more like a highlighter for darker tones, i needed something a bit darker in color but still have that pretty peachy, coral pink range .

(R) light flush , (L) stereo rose
theyre both darker and pinkier for light flush and bit redder for stereo rose in person . i couldnt capture the colors exactly as they are . wth, its a lot harder than i thought . i was especially getting so frustrated with the swatch pictures . i see these 2 gorgeous swatches on my arm, but when i look back at the camera, it just seemed bleh . this was the best i can come up with, and they were both a lot darker in person .

(R) stereo rose, (L) light flush

im not saying that theyre a dupe or even that theyre similar . im just comparing my old fav & possibly a new fav . i find light flush obviously lighter in color but also a peachy pink whereas stereo rose would be more corally pink . corally pink ! perfect for the summer !! nicely pigmented and shows up amazingly on my tanned face which is probably about somewhere between NC30-35 at the moment .

i dont know how this is compared to the older version but i love this just as it is . i just wish it had a little bit more veinings but its still good the way it is . ive seen some people say its really chalky compared to the older version, but i honestly dont really find it chalky and its pretty much the same as most of the msf's that i own . i didnt find it any frostier than light flush either .

stereo rose is this year's summer blush for me . i still love light flush but that'll be hibernating until the colder months arrive and my face gets paler .

face favorites pt.1

my current favorite face products . :)

- REVLON photoready foundation in 006 medium beige (perfect for NC30s) .
- MAC msf natural in medium dark .
- ELF powder brush
- MAC fix+ rose
- ETUDE HOUSE collagen moistfull essence-in primer
- ETUDE HOUSE glow base sun guard spf 36 PA++

everyone & their mom knows about the revlon's photoready foundation & mac's msf natural so i'll leave them out from the reviews . i, too, just loveeeeee them . msf is a bit dark on me, but i use it like a bronzer with the ELF's powder brush or with everyday mineral's buffing brush sprayed with fix+ . i LOVE the smell of fix+ rose . i love fix+ and cant believe i almost missed out !

ELF's powder brush .
i got this brush as an extra when i did a swap on mua . i didnt expect anything from this brush and actually didnt even use it until i was too lazy to wash my regular stippling brush . and for this, im soo glad . i loveee this brush . i use it like a stippling brush . i especially love the coverage it gives with the foundation . bristles are so soft and its dense enough (but not too dense) to give that perfect airbrushed look with the foundation . not to mention CHEAP ! for $3, everyone should give this brush a chance !!!

ETUDE HOUSE's essence-in primer .
during my stay in korea, etude house was one of my favorites . when i asked the SA for the peach pore base, she said thats been discontinued and referred me to this . it kinda reminded me of vinaigrette dressing with its 2 layer . i thought it would be way too oily for my combination skin but not at allllll !! omg i love this primer and will never go back to any silicon based foundation primers . apparently its liquid and oil combined provides moisture texture that improves foundation coverage adhesion and prevents dry skin . it actually helped control my oily t-zone throughout the day much much better than any other primers . it leaves your skin nicely dewy and prepped for the foundation step . i can clearly see that it leaves my foundation fresh looking and stay for a lot longer too ! ugh i love this and WILL NOT go back to any silicon based primers !

ETUDE HOUSE's glow based sun guard SPF 36 PA++i never really worried about the sun until earlier this year . i picked this up when i was in korea earlier this year after seeing nothing but good reviews on this . i think my skin has gotten a lot more sensitive after using olay's foaming mousse cleaner (I HATE YOU !!!!) so i was always worried that putting sunscreen on my face would cause breakouts . not this ! this is one of the BEST face sunscreeen ever ! it feels like light moisturizer/base that makes your face dewy but not sticky or oily at all . i, however, dont use this everyday on my face since most of my foundations & bb creams have spf in them already, but i do use it on my neck everyday . my necks even more sensitive than on my face and it hasnt made any nastiness on my neck yet ! GREAT for people with sensitive skin and whoever wants a sunscreen that acts as a foundation base as well !
